Sekiguchi Shinshin-ryu Jujutsu, which flourished in the Edo era, is known as a prestigious school as the Kishu-domain style. It has been handed down from the Founder Sekiguchi Mirokuemon Ujimune to Sekiguchi family. Currently Yoshio Sekiguchi, 13th successor, serves as a grandmaster.

Tenjin Shin-yo-ryu and Kito-ryu are known as the schools where the Kodokan Founder Jigoro Kano accumulated his learning. Kito-ryu is now preserved as the style of Kodokanfs old style of Judo and passed down. Yoroi Kumiuchi was demonstrated. Tenjin Shin-yo-ryues principle, gKouden Gohonh was inherited as gItsutsu-no Katachih in Kodokan. Various phases of techniques were demonstrated.

Tokyo-based Aikido group headed by Kondo Katsunosuke and Kansai area-based one headed by Mori Hakaru presented Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu. Chief of Headquarters Kondo succeeded to Takeda Tokimune, a child of Founder Takeda Sokaku. Out of 118 basic techniques, three techniques, Idori, Tachiai, and Hanza-Hanmi were demonstrated. In prior to learning Aiki technique, practicing Jujutsu at the fullest extent possible is required. In its demonstration, Jujutsu technique in that joint techniques be mastered, and techniques of throwing and immobilizing the opponent was presented in the first place. Ippon-dori, its basic technique, was performed with a short sword against a long one. Further, it was demonstrated that breaking the balance of the opponent who tries to grab and immobilize him/her. Performing Taninsu-dori, grabbing attacks against multiple attackers drew a large attention of the audience.

Mori Hakaru, head of Daitoryu Takuma-kai, suceeded to Hisa Takuma. The latter recorded all teachings of Takeda Sokaku and compiled gDaito-ryu Aiki Budo Soden 11 Volumes.h Based on this textbook, Takumakai members practice 2,884 techniques. Focusing on the joint techniques, immobilization techniques are mainly passed down. Balance breaking techniques against the opponent who just touches arm or shoulder was performed. |
